DOK Annual Meeting

On Saturday, January 10, the St. Barnabas Chapter of the Daughters of the King (DOK) will hold their annual membership meeting. A prayer service will take place at 10:00 a.m. in the church, and the meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. the Parish Hall. DOK members will talk about various aspects of being a Daughter from their personal perspectives. Refreshments will be served. All St. Barnabas women are eligible for membership in DOK. Epiphany Labyrinth Service

St. Barnabas will host an Epiphany service, Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., meditating on Christian themes of pilgrimage and encounters with God. All will be invited following the service to quietly walk a labyrinth set out in the Parish Hall in an exercise of embodied prayer, encountering the mystery of faith.

Church-to-Church Walk

The community Church-to-Church Walk hosted by the Gillespie County Ministerial Association is an annual, community-wide Christmastime service for all ages. Tuesday, December 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Order of churches: Zion, Bethany, Holy Ghost, St. Mary’s. Click here for more information!

St. Barnabas has volunteered to make cookies for the final gathering of the evening at St. Mary's. If you are willing to make the time to bake cookies for the Church to Church Walk, please place your contribution in the freezer, labeled “Church Walk,” by noon on Tuesday, December 16. They will be delivered to St. Mary's with joy and thanksgiving!

December 14—Children’s Christmas Program at the 11:00 a.m. service in the sanctuary. Reach out to Emily if your child would like to take part!

  • Sunday, December 7, 10 a.m.—Rehearsal in the Sanctuary between services

  • Sunday, December 14, 11 a.m.—Christmas Program (arrive at 10 a.m. for costumes)

    This annual Christmas program will feature our children as angels and shepherds surrounding The Holy Family—Joseph, Mary, and the Baby Jesus. Members of our Youth Group will tell the Christmas story from scripture.

Family Fun Night

All are invited to join us again for a Family Fun Night on Wednesday, December 3, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the St. Barnabas Parish Hall and on the lawn. Dinner will be provided, as well as more lawn games (weather pending)!

Our families are partnering with the Brothers and Sisters Ministry to provide handmade Christmas cards for inside the stockings that we gift to folks at Advantage Care Services, New Horizons, and Living Well. We will have cards and supplies out at Family Fun Night on December 3, and hope to achieve our goal of making 75 cards! Please plan to join us if you can.

Dr. Rick McMinn will lead a memorial service for all those mourning losses by suicide. Held Monday, December 1st at 6:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall, this service will provide a gentle space to name and remember loved ones and share in fellowship with others who bear this grief on life's journey.

Weekend Seminar: The Long Trip Home

Rick McMinn, Pastor and Doctor of Psychology, Chaplain and Consultant, will host a weekend workshop for exploring ideas of home, lostness, and return. Designed to promote the exploration of our spiritual journey, Dr. McMinn will combine some of the spiritual masters and his own story to illustrate the many trails away from home and dimensions of return to life under God's favor and blessing. In the sessions, we will look at how family systems shed light on complicated relationships, patterns of independence, dependency, intimacy, distance, and harmony, the prodigal, the elder, and our current culture. Pregnancy & Child Loss Remembrance Gathering

Heart of the Hills Resources is hosting a Pregnancy & Child Loss Remembrance Gathering for our community.

Date & Time: Tuesday, October 15th at 6:30 p.m.

Location: Heart of the Hills Resources – 520 S. Milam

This gathering will be a safe and supportive space for families to honor and remember their precious little ones gone too soon. We welcome all who have experienced the heartbreak of loss — including miscarriage, stillbirth, infant or child loss, infertility, or separation.

Centering Prayer Introductory Seminar

Centering Prayer is a receptive method of Christian silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer, a prayer in which we experience God’s presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself.

The method of Centering Prayer will be presented and time allowed for practice of the prayer.  Come and discover the meaning of, “Be still and know that I am God,” Psalm 46.

When: Saturday, October 11, from 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (light lunch included). Four weekly follow-up sessions will occur on a day and time determined by group consensus.

Where: Fredericksburg United Methodist Church (Rooms 1 & 2), 1800 N. Llano St., Fredericksburg, TX.
